Parippu vada recipe –Parippu vada / Dal vada – is famous snack made with chana dal ot toor dal, curry leaves, chili, ginger,fennel seed, asafoetida and shallot. This snacks are very popular especially in all the tea shops. parippu vada with playamkodan pazham and a cup of tea is the famous combination in kerala.

INGREDIENTS
1 cup Toor Dal (Thuvara parippu) or Channa dal (Kadala parippu)
1 1/2 tbsp Ginger (finely chopped)
4 nos Green Chilly (chopped)
1/2 tsp Fennel Seeds
1 pinch Asafoetida
2 spring Curry Leaves (chopped)
10 nos Shallots
salt to taste
oil for deep frying
3 nos red chilli
INSTRUCTIONS
Soak the channa dal and toor dal for at least 2-3 hours and drain it. make sure that it is drained well.
Grind the soaked dal with dry red chillies and fennel seeds in a mixer grinder without adding any water. Do make sure not to make it to a fine paste.
Add chopped ingredients, asafoetida and salt to the grounded dal and mix it well.
Heat oil in a deep bottom pan in a medium-low flame.
Take small amount of the dal mixture and make a ball. flatten to a round shape. drop into the hot oil.
Cook until the vada is a golden brown and crisp.
Serve parippu vada with palayamkodan pazham and a cup of hot tea
