Chatti Pathiri | Kerala / Malabar Style Easy Chicken Chatti Pathiri Recipe

Chatti Pathiri – Malabar Style Chicken Chatti Pathiri is layered with shredded chicken and then pan fried all together. This recipe is famous in Malabar.


CUISINE

INGREDIENTS
 
2 nos Egg
1/4 tsp Pepper powder
2 tbsp Ghee
Salt to taste
For marinating chicken
300 gm Chicken (breasts / thighs)
1/2 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
1 tsp Chilli powder
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Fennel powder
Salt- to taste
For chicken filling
2 nos Onion sliced
1 tsp Garlic paste
1/2 tsp Ginger paste
3-4 nos Green chilli crushed
2 tbsp Cashew nuts (chopped)
1 spring Curry leaves
2 tbsp Oil
1/2 tsp Garam masala
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp Fennel powder
Salt – to taste
For making pathiri (crepe)
1 cup All-purpose flour (Maida)
1/4 cup Rice flour
1 nos Egg
Salt- to taste

INSTRUCTIONS
 
In a bowl add Chicken (breasts / thighs), Kashmiri chilli powder, Chilli powder, Garam Masala, Turmeric powder, Fennel powder and Salt- to taste. marinate the chicken. Keep half an hour.
Add the marinated chicken into a pan and cook covered. when all the water has dried off, add 2 tbsp of oil and slightly fry chicken for a few minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let cool down. shred it, keep aside.
Heat a pan over medium heat, add oil. add onions and salt. saute onions till translucent.
Add the ginger paste, garlic paste, green chilli crushed and cashew nut crushed to the onions and saute for a few minutes, and adding curry leaves. Let the onions turn light golden color.
Add garam masala, turmeric powder and fennel powder. saute well.
Add cooked shredded chicken and combine well. Cook for a few minutes. remove the pan from the heat and let cool down.
In a bowl, combine flour, egg, water, and salt. Blend it to a smooth thin batter.
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat, add ghee, pour 1 large spoonful of batter to the pan and spread it to round shape. flip it over and let the other side cook. Keep aside the cooked pathiri (Crepe).
In a bowl, beat 2 eggs along with 1/4 tsp pepper and salt (to taste).
Heat a frying pan place over low heat, add ghee. dip the pathiri in the beaten egg. place the pathiri on the pan. add the chicken filling over the pathiri. make up to 5 layers of pathiri and chicken filling.
One tbsp of ghee over the top layer. Cover the pan with its lid and cook over low heat for 5 minutes and roast till it is light brown. Carefully flip it over and roast it on the other side. Turn off the flame.
Serve the malabar Style Chicken Chatti Pathiri.
