Premier League: Late Goal from Martinez Secures Vital Win for Man Utd Against Fulham

In search of their fourth league victory since Ruben Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag in November, Manchester United struggled to create chances during a lackluster first half at Craven Cottage.

London: A crucial late goal from Lisandro Martinez, which took a significant deflection, led Manchester United to a much-needed 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Desperate for their fourth league win since Amorim's appointment, United found it challenging to generate opportunities in a disappointing first half at Craven Cottage.

However, the visitors showed improvement after halftime and were fortunate to secure the win, as Martinez's long-range effort in the 78th minute took a crucial deflection before entering the goal.

A timely clearance off the line by young substitute Toby Collyer in the closing moments ensured the victory for United, lifting Amorim's team to 12th place in the league, just four points behind 10th-placed Fulham.

"I think I was lucky, but it was an important win," Martinez stated to TNT Sports. "I am pleased with how we achieved the victory. The identity of the scorer is irrelevant; what matters is securing the three points."

"This win means a lot, not just to the fans but to us as well, as we have faced many challenges. Winning is tough at this club, and the pressure is intense, but we are committed. Even in matches like today, we must secure the win and remain humble afterward."

Amorim's tenure in England has been challenging so far. Heading into Sunday’s match, United had suffered six losses in their last nine league games.

In such poor form, the visitors appeared to lack creativity during a disappointing first half. Emile Smith Rowe had the best chance for the hosts but failed to convert.

United captain Bruno Fernandes nearly gave his side an early lead with a clever free-kick at the start of the second half, but they ultimately needed a stroke of luck for their only shot on target to find the back of the net. Collyer's timely intervention was crucial.
